Western Australia (WA)'s scheme refunds 10 cents on containers of 150 mL to 3 L and expanded on 1 July 2026 to wine and spirit bottles, cask wine and water, juice concentrates, flavoured milk and cordial. Recovery has risen from 34 to more than 65 per cent.
What happens: WARRRL's contractors process and sell the material; end products are not disclosed. The wine industry has criticised the expansion's cost (about 14c a bottle). Refunds can be donated to registered charities and community groups.
