Victoria's scheme, launched November 2023, refunds 10 cents on drink containers of 150 mL to 3 L (aluminium, glass, plastic, cartons). Three zone operators (TOMRA Cleanaway west, Visy north, Return-It east) run the refund points.
What happens: operators 'ensure the proper recycling' but the scheme names no processors or end products. Total Environment Centre reports the government refused to release per-zone return data after mid-2024 and that over-the-counter points have limited hours; it wants a 20c refund and wine and spirits included.
