TerraCycle runs free brand-sponsored programmes (mail-in via Australia Post) and sells Zero Waste Boxes for streams your council will not take. Its process page says plastics are sorted, pelletised and made into outdoor furniture, pallets and bins, with more than 95 per cent processed in the region collected; no Australian processor is named.
Honest caveats: TerraCycle settled a 2021 US lawsuit (Last Beach Cleanup v TerraCycle) by changing 'recyclable' labels with eight brands, a documentary alleged UK material was incinerated in Bulgaria, and the Colgate oral-care programme is closing on 30 December 2026. Paid boxes are expensive per kilogram; use them for genuinely stranded items, not as a reason to keep buying them.
