Ridwell collects plastic film, multilayer plastic, batteries, light bulbs, clothing and rotating categories from the doorstep in Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, Minneapolis and Atlanta, with mail-in elsewhere. Its 'where it goes' page names the processors: film to Trex (composite decking), multilayer to ByFusion (compressed blocks), Arqlite (hydroponic gravel) and Hydroblox (drainage planks), claiming 97 to 98 per cent diversion.
Honest caveat: all of these are one-way downcycling, and paying $20 a month to recycle packaging is a sign the packaging should not exist. Ridwell Inc. is a private company.
