Repair Cafes are free community events where volunteers fix clothes, appliances, bikes and furniture, keeping plastic-heavy goods out of the bin. The Repair Cafe International Foundation (Amsterdam) provides the starter kit and a global map; Australia's roughly 110 cafes are listed on a community-maintained map (google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1W9mcrEQpDKbALtiOv7aDjcE4eCM).
Honest caveat: the foundation says it has no structural funding; Dutch public benefit organisation (ANBI) status is not printed on its site, so treat gifts as unrestricted support. Local cafes are independent and need fixers more than money.
