Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) is a network of more than 1,000 grassroots groups in over 90 countries working against incineration and 'waste-to-energy', and for zero-waste systems and plastic reduction, including at the UN plastics treaty. It is strong in Asia, Africa and Latin America where waste-picker groups do much of the work.
GAIA USA is a 501(c)(3) (Employer Identification Number 45-3543427; projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/453543427), with sister entities GAIA Philippines and Zero Waste Europe.
