The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) scheme refunds 10 cents on marked drink containers and reports a 69 per cent redemption rate over the past year. It will expand to wine and spirit glass, cordials and larger containers in step with New South Wales (NSW), no earlier than mid-2027.
What happens: containers from return points are processed by the scheme's network contractor; eligible containers placed in kerbside bins go to the Hume materials recovery facility instead. End products are not disclosed.
