Australian Microplastic Assessment Project (AUSMAP) (Australian Microplastic Assessment Project) trains volunteers and schools to sample shoreline sediment with a standard method, then maps microplastic hotspots across the country. In early 2026 its ambassadors completed 25 surveys across four states and identified synthetic-turf fragments as a growing source in Sydney waterways.

It is run by Total Environment Centre Inc., a charity endorsed as a Class 1 deductible gift recipient (DGR1), with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Registered Charity Tick, so gifts of $2 or more are tax-deductible. Sampling days are announced through the Get Involved page and schools can book sessions.
