SARCAN runs Saskatchewan's drink container depots. Refunds are 10 cents for plastic, cans and cartons up to 999 ml and 25 cents for 1 litre and over; glass is 10, 20 or 40 cents. A handling charge that is not refunded is added when you buy, for example 8 cents on a plastic bottle. In 2025 to 2026, 83% of drink containers sold in the province came back. SARCAN also takes soft plastic packaging, which it says is made into pellets in Calgary and Delta.
Who runs it: SARCAN is part of the Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres, a disability-services organisation and registered charity (number 10795 5460 RR0001 on the Canada Revenue Agency's 2024 list). Return figures are its own.
