The National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS), running since 2011 under the Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020, obliges TV and computer importers to fund collection and recycling. Five approved arrangements (Ecycle Solutions, Ecocycle, TechCollect, Sustainable Product Stewards, Activ Group) run about 1,800 drop-off services including council depots and retailers such as Officeworks.

What happens: devices are dismantled and shredded to recover metals, glass and plastics; some fractions are exported for processing, which the scheme does not spell out. Accepted: TVs, computers, monitors, laptops, printers, drives, keyboards and cables (varies by site).
