- Industry figure from the trade body Plastics Europe. It leaves out plastic used for textile fibres such as polyester and nylon, and for paints, coatings and adhesives. So it is lower than the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Lancet figures of 460 to 475 million tonnes for 2019 to 2022. The OECD counts fibres and additives. Do not compare them directly.
