Roots & Shoots is strong on community projects: the forMULA toolkit walks a group of any age through engaging with an issue, observing and mapping it, taking action and celebrating. Ocean and litter mapping activities sit within it. It is light on plastic-specific science, so pair it with our explainers.
Who made and funded this: the Jane Goodall Institute (charity), donor funded. How to use it: use the method for a community litter-mapping project; use our audit for the numbers. Link only. Note: the specific 'Our Oceans, Our Pollution' blog page returned a 404 on 22 September 2026; search rootsnshoots.org.uk for 'oceans' or use the toolkit link.
